Hamilton Wharf Riverfront Residences
Overview
The Hamilton Riverfront Residences is the last waterfront opportunity at Portside Wharf. The building is designed to have a very international feel, with comparisons to some of the most famous water access cities in the world, such as Paris and Venice.
The 14-level building comprises 95 luxury apartments with a combination of, two-bedroom, three-bedroom and four bedroom apartments, in addition to the four penthouses on the top level. Apartment sizes will range from 114sqm to 275sqm, while the penthouses will measure around 645sqm. In all finishes palettes, complementary timbers have been chosen to accentuate kitchen cupboards and to unify kitchen spaces with timber feature walls in dining/living spaces. Bathrooms and ensuites will feature stone vanity tops with undermount sinks, as well as stone floors.
Lifestyle components will include a private pool, gymnasium, porte cochere, and grand private
resident’s lobby.
Design
The formal concept of the building is about the representation of a Queensland vernacular with the interpretation of four key design elements and a pared back formal expression of ideas and reduced material palette and application:
- Roof – exaggerated expression of the floating roof around the entire perimeter of the building
- Veranda – extension and expression of the slab edges at every level. These vary in depth from floor to floor to enhance this expression across the height of the building. These verandas also help with the passive cooling of the apartments
- Cross flow – use of a four storey atrium from ground level to level 4. This allows us to provide a sophisticated use of materiality, colour and texture at the ground floor to enhance the experience of the atrium void.
- Floating – raised ground floor and podium to give the appearance that the building is “floating” along the water’s edge
The apartment interiors for all levels are separated into two categories of the Multiplex “Gold” colour scheme from ground level to level 14. What is unique to building 2 is the atrium across four levels of the podium starting at ground level up to level 4 which all apartments on these levels will experience. The atrium is the mechanism by which we have introduced into the project the idea of “cross flow” for the podium level apartments. The concept of the materiality of ground level and the atrium is to explore the sophisticated use of a minimal colour palate of various shades of white and different textures of timber, fabric and wall and floor tiles.
